Remembering Ed, Farrah and Michael: The Culture Of Pop

		<itunes:author>Jeffrey M. Rosado</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Just as pre production of Episode 79 of The DVD Marquee wrapped on Thursday afternoon, heartbreaking news emerged from Los Angeles...on what had been a tremendously sad week prior with the passings of Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett...and sadly along with Michael Jackson, they all belong to the ages. Join Jeffrey for a special edition of The Culture Of Pop with his friends Dena and Lisa from Celebrity Sidedish for a heartfelt tribute to three special entertainers that made our lives so much better...</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Webmaster Note: Just as pre-production wrapped on DVD Marquee Episode 79 Thursday afternoon, sad news broke from L.A. ...and changed all our plans resulting in a special episode of The Culture Of Pop. Jeffrey asked us to post this statement/introductory piece for him: Ed, Farrah and Michael were three incredibly talented, instantly charismatic and beyond beloved individuals... Ed was the jovial everyman that represented our laughter in response to a funny Nebraska boy named Johnny with whom he helped send America to bed with smiles into the twilight. Farrah was a good old Texas gal made good on the TV...and walked away from her comfort zone to challenge herself becoming an inspiration to millions of actresses who didn't want to be known as strictly cheesecake.. ...and little Michael (sigh)...who became one of music's last great showmen of the 20th century at the tender age of 9 years old via our knitted speaker living room Zenith TV's and pocket sized transistor radios blazing out four number one smashes in a row (I Want You Back/ABC/The Love You Save/I'll Be There) which paved the way for the likes of classic solo albums (Off The Wall and Thriller). Now, they all belong to the ages. Along with my friends Dena and Lisa (Celebrity Sidedish), I invite you to join us for this special, funny, heartfelt remembrance of three diverse but no less influential, wonderful people that enriched our lives and made them better with their creative gifts. <itunes:summary>While finishing touches on a brand new DVD Marquee episode continues, enjoy this sneak peek at Jeffrey's forthcoming pop culture driven talk show called The Culture of Pop (clever, eh?) Okay, it may not have been the most DRAMATIC or SHOCKING rose ceremony EVER (!!!), but last week's installment of The Bachelorette had plenty of drama from Ed's departure to millions wincing in non-anticipation of Tanner P's toes (please don't, dude). What's a poor (but oh-so-pretty) Jillian to do? Jeffrey jaws with Dena/Lisa from the Celebrity Sidedish podcast about the remaining contenders (or pretenders) and even goes a little Wes-ly by crooning a homemade ditty especially for Ms. Harris (minus the spiky geled up hair...JR prefers the natural/sincere look)..
Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend 2009, Jeffrey offers many suggestions for down time fun ranging from one of the highest grossing comedies of the year (Paul Blart: Mall Cop), some more classic comedy (Wayne's World 1 and 2 Blu Rays, There's Something About Mary/Blu Ray), vintage adventure (more James Bond on Blu-Ray), blu ray debuts (Major League, Three Days Of The Condor,Big, The Machinist with Christian #$*! Bale) to some all out rock and roll (Elton John-The Red Piano/Blu Ray, Van Morrison-Astral Weeks Live).

Actress Jayma Mays (Paul Blart: Mall Cop/Glee) also drops by to talk working with Kevin James and her excitement at being a part of the cast of one of the most highly anticipated TV shows coming in the fall of 2009.

Book(mark) em, Dano!:

DVD Marquee On You Tube(NEW)!

DVD Marquee @ Twitter!

DVD Marquee Blog

DVD Marquee @ MySpace

The DVD Marquee on I-Tunes

<itunes:subtitle>The day after the day after the Oscars, Jeffrey and special guest co-host Jason Miller take a mostly fond look back (Hugh Jackman, you were GREAT!)...but not without some pointed (and uncensored) thoughts on tabloid and certain mainstream media outlet's coverage in recent weeks (can you say Bradjenlina? Please don't...)</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Okay, you've seen coverage everywhere from E! to ET.....from Ryan (Seacrest, OUT!) to Ross (The Intern who's always been way, WAAAYYYYY OUT!)...witnessed nominees braving Billy Bush and the attack of the Rinnas (and we're talking lips, not her...AHEM)! But before we bid adieu to Oscar Season '09, please enjoy one last nostalgic, informative and just plain damn fun look back with long time Academy Award fan (37 ceremonies and counting)/film historian/Marquee Man himself (that would be Jeffrey) and his special guest co-host Jason Miller. In addition to reflecting on all the major highlights (Hugh Jackman? You were GREAT!!! -- Ben Stiller? You're killing us!...and more where those great moments came from), Jeffrey and Jason utilize their television, stage and film backgrounds to provide sharp commentary/keen observations on this year's festivities...as well as making pointed (and be forewarned, uncensored/not "work safe") jabs at tabloid and (certain) mainstream media outlets "anything for a story" mentality in the week's prior to the ceremony Can you say "Bradjenlina"? Please don't. Additionally, Jeffrey provides brief behind-the-scenes hilarity while recalling his weekend shoot of the Marquee's first video edition and shudders in horror at Jason's impromptu revelation of vintage 1990's television footage of your humble host now circulating on You Tube... Also Worth Bookmarking: DVD Marquee Blog DVD Marquee @ MySpace ...and okay kids, all right, all right.... From Jeffrey's Not So Secret Small Screen Past....
